Sprained joints are one of the most common
forms of sporting injury, usually caused when a joint such
as the knee is forced to move beyond its normal range of
movement by an impact, a fall, twisting or landing
awkwardly. A sprain usually involves soft tissue injury to
the structures of the joint such as over stretching or
tearing the ligaments. Serious ligament injuries not only
cause severe pain and swelling, making it almost impossible
to move properly, but if not treated can end up with the
patient not being able to return to sporting activities.
My Ligament
explains what a ligament is, how they can be damaged, what
the treatment options are, which ligaments can be treated
with artificial ligament repairs, and what is done during a
ligament reconstruction operation
There are also some
case studies of
patients who have undergone ligament reconstruction surgery.
